Chris has been a Mission District resident for 25 years. She was an active member of the Mission Anti-displacement Coalition, the Women’s Institute for Leadership Development for Human Rights San Francisco Task Force, and United to End Racism. She has worked as a consultant and social science researcher, as well as a Visiting Scholar at the Graduate School of Education at University of California, Berkeley. She is currently the Founder and CEO of Healthy Eating San Francisco. She received her PhD from the University of California, Berkeley in 2005, with a specialty in political education, popular education and social transformation. Chris was born in New York and grew up in Williamsville, NY and Pelham, Massachusetts. She is the granddaughter of Scottish immigrants and has other northern European protestant heritages.
