Strengthening Community
From the beginning PODER has made recruiting members and building community leaders a central part of our work. We work with families—that means all generations from adults to seniors to youth and children. Our members engage in various levels of training and participation. We recognize that learning is a two-way street between staff and members and draw on our shared cultural traditions, personal journeys and collective struggles to develop strong leaders. Together we strive to build a profound economic and environmental justice movement that heals Mother Earth, sustains localized economies, and fosters healthy development.
PODER’s membership program also offers inspiring biannual membership meetings, monthly skill shares, urban action learning academies, peer-to-peer mentorship, and social events such as a summer BBQ and end-of-year celebration.
