The Monster in the Mission is back.
The Monster in the Mission has awoken from hibernation. The mind behind the Monster, Robert Rosania of “Maximus Real Estate,” is hosting an invite-only “community meeting”. Let’s show these real estate tycoons how the community feels about gentrification and the exploitation of our neighborhood.
The Plaza 16 Coalition unequivocally rejects any proposal for 1979 Mission St that is not 100% affordable housing. We are asking small businesses planning to attend the meeting to discard the invitation by the developer Maximus, and join us on the picket line. Join with the community against unwanted, unneeded, and unwelcome gentrification-causing housing in the Mission!
We will not allow this malicious, and ill-intended developer to peacefully hold a meeting in the neighborhood they seek to sabotage. Maximus and their founder Robert Rosania practice an ideology of classism (see here from Anti-Eviction Mapping Project: http://bit.ly/2uD6zkd), and we cannot allow them to be met with silence.
Let’ show up, demand solidarity from our neighborhood businesses, and tell Maximus that the Monster is never going to be built in the Mission!
The Plaza 16 Coalition will be hosting a BANNER MAKING PARTY at PODER (474 Valencia) on Wednesday, August 16th from 5-7pm! Come by and make a cool sign, help with a banner, or many other fun activities.
